My Name is Maya - Oneshot
My name is Maya.
I don't know how old I am.
I am different to most people.
I can channel spirits.
Talk to them
And let them use my body as a host.
I have a father and a mother.
Whom I both love very much.
But the person who I love most.
Is my older sister.
Daddy died before I got to know him.
And soon after, Mama left me.
I don't know why.
Was it something I did...?
But still, I was happy.
Because I had Mia.
She was the one who taught me everything.
How to count, how to channel
How to love.
I have an aunt.
She doesn't seem to like Sis and I very much.
I don't mind though.
I also have a cousin.
Her name is Pearl.
I call her Pearly.
And I love her almost as much as Mia.
Mia went to become a lawyer.
She said that it was to find Mum.
I said that I would do everything to support her.
She promised to call me whenever she could.
It's been several months now.
I remember how she rang on the morning of that day.
I had missed her so much.
"Mr. Godot?" Her small, clenched voice seemed slightly braver than it had been when I'd first found her.
I sighed quietly and gazed down at her tiny figure with masked sympathy, the little tyke was too young to understand the situation she was currently in.
Pearl Fey, the youngest member of the branch descent, an insignificant part of the Feys, or so it seemed. She was shivering beneath her Kurain robes, clothes that didn't provide much heat in the brittle, cold wind here at Hazukara. Only nine and already subjected to the harsh world of Law.
It was, as once could comment, unfair.
On the contrary, when has the world ever been fair to us?
A tiny tug stopped the train of thought chugging away inside the endless railways of my mind and brought my attention back onto the little brown haired girl.
"I was w-wondering " Her teeth were chattering and I drew her closer to me without thinking. She squeaked in surprise but made no move to edge away, and managed to continue

Part III Channeling the Demon
Every year for the past three years of the cotton drifting in Hinamizawa Village, members of the main family have met with mysterious deaths.
And last night was the fourth year.
A shrine maiden working under Mia was beaten to death.
The source of Mia's agony still persists
"Do you think the police have any suspects in mind?" Dahlia listened intently to the phone, hoping Iris had thought this through.
"I don't know looks like Detective Crescend thinks it was someone close to her."
"Does Mia have an alibi for the night of the festival?" Dahlia said immediately. She had to make sure Mia was safe.
"Eh ? I don't know "
"Huh 'MIA WAS AT THE FESTIVAL'! Wouldn't that have been good enough?!"
"Uh yeah. You're right I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking "
She knows that they could easily suspect Mia, and she didn't even think of anything for

"Perfect, just perfect. It's only lunchbreak and I've already humiliated myself by mixing up the victim's photos TWICE, AND I've forgotten my purse!"
She clutched her head and massaged her temples in an attempt to make the growing ache in her head die down, not knowing how much worse her first day as a defence attorney could become. It didn't seem to work.
With a sigh, she slouched in her sitting position upon her work table and scanned the office. Mia was aware that she was alone; everyone else had left either to purchase their lunch or rest outside in the fresh air. So far, she hadn't come across a single work partner that seemed thoroughly interested in doing their job properly. She let her thoughts wonder astray; maybe proving herself worthy to her boss wouldn't be so hard after all
That's when she first heard his voice.
"What's this little kitten doing in a lion's den all by herself?"
She positively jumped off from where she was sitting at th
